Help support women's right to health care! Texas legislators passed a wave of restrictions on women's health care that will shut down a lot of health care centers and deny women access to basic health care. Planned Parenthood is taking action. Check out the Planned Parenthood Action website to help support the cause and women's right to health care and to learn more!

I had a wonderful experience yesterday. I went to the Advance Auto Parts yesterday because my car was having some power steering problems and had any idea about something I could do myself to fix it. I went up to the desk and explained my problem and the employee suggested an easy/cheap fix that might work. Then he offered to take a look at it himself. He thought it was that the belt was too loose and he even offered to tighten it for me. Of course I said yes. He didn't even want money for it. That fixed it and it was free. (Where as Pep Boys wanted $39.99 just to take a look at it to see what the problem was.) This guy made my day! There should be more people like this in the world.

I broke out my sewing machine yesterday and made a couple of pillows. I forgot how much fun sewing is. I am going to try and make a bath robe out of an old sheet next.

Today I volunteered at Johnson's Backyard Garden. I helped them bag arugula, salad greens, and Dragon Tongue Beans. Then we helped them pack the boxes of vegetables that they sell to people around town. It was a lot of fun. I plan on doing that many more times.

Ok, so I know it's been awhile. But I wanted to share this small act of kindness I did on Mother's Day. I work in retail and a lady that I was ringing up had her younger boy with her. He was acting out sooo much (screaming and running out of the store) and she was all by herself. She said that her husband got sick that day and so she had to go to the store by herself (on Mother's Day). When I finished ringing her up I simply said "Happy Mother's Day" and she got the biggest smile on her face and said thank you very much. She deserved it.

Here are a few random acts of kindness suggestions: This is by no means a complete list
(if anyone has more idea's please share via comments)
+Leave some quarters at a bus stop or laundry-mat
+Purchase a gift card for a store or restaurant and give it away
+Write a thank you card to your mailman
+Smile
+Let a family ahead of you in line
+Open the door for someone
+Buy someone in line behind you coffee
+Give someone a hug
+Volunteer
+Pick up trash at a park, beach, or roadway
+Donate money, items, or time
+Complement someone
+Thank someone
+Return shopping carts at a store
+Hand out water to people working outside on a hot day
+Donate toys, etc. to a children's hospital

I was witness to one very large random act of kindness. At work (retail) I was ringing someone up who told me that a random lady came up to her in the store and handed her an envelope and she opened it to find a letter from the lady that told of her struggles with cancer and included with the letter was a $50 gift card to the store. The women who received this said that she started to cry. It was so sweet and so amazing.

It's been a while since I wrote last. I am not too good at keeping up with this kind of thing, but I am going to try my best. It is actually fairly nice outside today, but off course I have allergies and they are super bad when I am outside and it's windy. I am very excited because we just applied to our new apartment to move into in a month or so. It is going to be much nicer than the current one we are in. This year I am going to teach myself how to knit. Oh, and on another note: I have been collecting Box Tops for my stepdad's school (where he teaches) and have a whole lot saved up to mail to him. It's very exciting, because I have been watching the schools progress on the Boxtop website and they just got a lot more money from the boxtops recently and they need it.
