Very cold here in Austin today and tonight (below freezing). Also, just want to share one of my favorite quotes: “Even the smallest person can change the course of the future” ― Galadriel (Lord of the Rings). Yes, I know it's from a movie/book, but it is true. 

Yesterday my boyfriend and I built an entertainment center. We just went to HomeDepot and figured it out right then and there. It's basic, but it looks pretty good for not much planning. It even has two cabinet doors and four shelves. Work is very busy (all of the last minute shoppers).

Oh, side note: if anyone has any other non-profits they know of please note them in one of the comment sections. I am always looking for more non-profits to learn about. Spread the Christmas spirit and love!!

It's actually cold today in Texas! I like it!! Yesterday we got our Christmas tree and put it up with lights and the few ornaments that we have. Looks great! I also crocheted a string of lights and they were very easy to make.

I am so happy. The donation page I set up for my friend and her family really worked great! I will be able to get them the $$ by Christmas.

Today was amazing. After work I was at the same stop light that I turn at to get home and there was someone in need standing there. I was able to give him the pocket warmers that I had in my car for that very purpose. I felt so great. He was a very nice man with two dogs and I am so happy I was able to help him (even just a little).

My most recent act of kindness was I provided free lollypops to fellow apartment neighbors. I am also planning on giving needy people on the street boot warmers. I got a good idea off the internet to keep water bottles in the car and when you see someone on the street in need give them one. That way you always have something to give.

Happy Thanksgiving! I just made my first pie (pumpkin) turned out great. We also made roasted pork tenderloin, cheese bread, rice, salad, and salted chocolate chip cookies.

Getting ready for Thanksgiving. I went to the store for final grocery shopping for tomorrow. We are going to have a roast with rice and of course some homemade pumpkin pie (Oh, and champagne). It is going to be yummy!

It's getting cold outside again. I just planted three new plants tonight. I can't believe that it is almost Thanksgiving (way to fast). I am hoping to make pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving. It's finally starting to feel like fall/winter. The temperature has dropped. Our pumpkin has bit the dust (surprisingly fast). Speaking of pumpkin....I think I am going to make pumpkin chocolate chip muffins very soon. The recipe is on my food page if you would like they are very good:).

I finally carved my pumpkin. It is a little late, but that's ok its our fall jack O lantern. From one angle it looks just crazy the other angle it looks scary! We decided to put it inside right in front of our fireplace, because we are on the third floor no one really sees it. It's like our fall Christmas/halloween tree. I put a pumpkin spice candle inside :). I had fun gutting it and we are using the seeds in a yummy crockpot mexican soup. The recipe is on my food page if you are interested.

Did everyone remember to change there clocks last night?  You wouldn't believe who I saw at the mall yesterday...Santa. It is the first week in November not even Thanksgiving yet and Santa is already in the mall and the mall is going to light their Christmas tree on the 11th of this month. This is so weird. This month I am going to try to go to the local Empty Bowl Project. There are many of this across the country. It's a grassroots movement to help fight hunger. Handcrafted soup bowls are made by local craftsmen, students, etc. and donated to this event. People in the community donate and get a meal of soup and one of the handcrafted bowls to take with them. It is a great project and I have always wanted to go. Hopefully my schedule will work out so I can go.

It's is now Movember!! My boyfriend is clean shaven and ready for the Movember challenge. It really doesn't seem like November yet. Anyways, on another note. Did everyone see that Disney bought Lucasfilms? I really don't know how good their planned new movies are going to be. Will just have to see I guess. Oh, and I didn't get any trick or treaters last night (for those of you following). Which means my boyfriend was right and now I am stuck with a bunch of candy. It was kinda sad. I wanted to handout at least one piece of candy, but I guess I have to wait until I don't leave on the top floor of an apartment building. That's all for now I guess. Now it's time to eat some lunch:)

Ok, it's almost Halloween. I don't think I will get many trick or treaters. We live in an apartment building and on the top floor. I don't think kids will want to climb that high for candy. However, just in case I bought some candy and granola bars. My boyfriend doesn't think kids would like granola bars. He also doesn't think that any kids will come at all. I think we might get a couple of kids that show up. On another note it is also almost November and you know what that means: Movember. It is a great way to show support and raise money for mens health issues (specifically prostate cancer and testicular cancer issues). Check out the website in my list of non-profits. And if your a guy grow a moustach and if you are a lady you can also support them by becoming a Mo Sista and raise awareness and money. My boyfriend does this every year. This year he is getting his workplace involved to help. Happy Halloween!

Random Acts of Kindness

I want to start my blog with something I care deeply about. Helping others in whatever way you can. I will have a continuous list of non-profits on my blog. Please check them out and help out if you can. Someone recently shared a great website and idea with me: The Birthday Project. It's the idea that anyone can make a difference in another persons life. Any act big or small can change the world. Random Acts of Kindness! I have also found another great site for Donations that make a difference. From this site I am currently trying to raise money in the form of donations. One for my dear friend and her wonderful new family to have a wonderful Christmas together. She just had a baby boy this year that had to have a heart transplant right after birth. He is doing great and they are very blessed. I thought that they could use some extra money to help them have a great 1st Christmas with him. I would love your help to give this gift to them. Please follow this link if you can.
